Triton College Softball Team Remains Perfect in the Conference

The Triton College softball program has grown tremendously during Art Kasak's seven-year tenure as head coach. But on April 14, the program did something it has not done in 17 years, sweeping a doubleheader over North Central Community College Conference (N4C) rival College of DuPage.
The Lady Trojans continued their solid play since their Arizona trip by picking up wins of 9-6 and 4-0 over the Chaparrals in River Grove. Most importantly, Triton is back over the .500 mark with a 16-14 record and is atop the N4C standings with a perfect 8-0 record.
"This team is accomplishing things that have never happened in my seven years at Triton," Kasak said. "I think there are more good things to come. The team played well today and it's really fun to watch."
The Lady Trojans had to rally from an early 3-0 deficit in game one as the bats came alive in a four-run third inning. Caitlin Thompson's (Argo) fourth home run of the season, a two-run blast over the left field fence was the highlight of the frame.
Samantha Pozzie (Riverside-Brookfield) was two-for-three with three RBI's as Triton opened a 9-4 lead. However, DuPage made things interesting late before Jazzy Camacho (Lane Tech) slammed the door by striking out the final two DuPage batters to earn the save.
Christina Christopher (Taft) pitched six and a third solid innings to claim her first win of the season.
In game two, the Chaparrals were puzzled by Camacho, who got the start after closing out the first game. The freshman dominated DuPage for her sixth victory with a complete game one-hit shutout.
Triton scored two first inning runs which proved to be plenty of support for Camacho, who struck out six. Morgan Dunbar (Lyons Township) hit her first home run of the season to give the Lady Trojans a 3-0 cushion in the third.
